10 Types Of Students You'll Find In An Examination Hall, By Akinboyejnr

Below is a list of the types of Students you find in an examination hall (In Nigeria).

1. THE GURUs

The first on the list is the gurus, who are the gurus? this are the type of student that starts writing immediately they are given the Question paper and answer sheet. They don't stop until the Invigilator ask everybody to submit.

Everyone knows them in their Department and regard them as one of the brilliant person in class or the most brilliant but they always end up with bad grades. (Only God knows why).

2. THE MIRACLE SEEKERS

Who are the Miracle seekers in an examination hall? this are the Students that did not read at all but still walk into the examination hall with an assurance that manners will fall from heaven.

Most of this type of Students will not enter the examination with micro chips but will still write far more than the person they are asking from or sitting with. (I Salute una Faith o).

3. THE PHONE A FRIEND CATEGORY

This set of students depend fully on their friends and even enemies in the same hall with them. Immediately the sitting arrangement is out, you will see them going from desk to desk asking other students where they fall.

Immediately they get to hear that the most brilliant student falls in their hall, they limp for joy and of course they book the space behind the student. (Chai, Una go good for Ultimate Search).

4. THE THIEVES

A lecturer once describe this category of student as the smartest among students this is because they manage to get their micro chips to their desk no matter how strict the invigilators are.

Search them from now till next year, you can never find anything on them yet, there are loads of chips with them. (Deris God Oh!)

5. THE GIRAFFES

The list can never be complete without this category of students. From the start of the examination till everyone submit their booklets, Mr Giraffe neck will stretch from one corner of the room to another. (I Hail o).

6. THE OLODOS

"Please spell APPLICATION for me" No, i am not the one asking, it is a student in his/her final year asking you to spell Application for him during a GNS examination. (Bros, go learn trade o!).

7. THE PHOTOCOPY MACHINE

This set of student can copy anything as long as it is on your answer booklet. They will copy everything including your name, surname and matriculation number. (Blood of Jesus!).

8. THOSE THAT CAME TO SIT FOR OTHERS

Do i really need to write much about this category? They are in the hall to write the examination for a friend who is sick or the person who paid them to sit for them.

9. THE SU's

Yes, this category of student are the Mummy G.O's and Daddy G.O's who will mind their business throughout the examination.

Call them from today till next week they will not lookup talkless of answering you.

10. THE BIRO EATERS

All they do is chew the cover of Biro or start eating biro all through the examination period. (Shey na Hungry abi na another thing?)

Things That Cause Nigerians Sleepless Nights. By Harrychokoberry

The stress levels in Nigeria can reach alarming levels. In no other nation on earth, could you experience the joys and frustrations of living at the same time. You could be stuck in gridlocked traffic, look out of your car window and see an act that would make you smile or cry this morning – like complete strangers helping a driver to jump-start a faulty car.

We deal with so much in a typical day – traffic scrambles, work, business hustles, power outages etc. Insomnia, while it is a word that most may have heard about, is not something that you would ascribe to the typical Nigerian.

Here, it is presumed that once you have a roof over your head and can afford a decent Mouka or Vitafoam 'mattress', then you should be able to catch 40 winks. If you  buy and lay a bed,  then you should lie on it and shut your eyes.

Only 'winches' and 'armed robbers' stay awake at night. Okay, noodles/mai-shy (fried egg) sellers do too, especially in the Rumuokoro ,Obalenda and Ojuelegba areas. In Naija, we also used to have 'night-soil men' who packed faeces from homes for a fee in a huge bucket, but 'soak-away' (septic tank) people have replaced them in most urban areas.

Those night-soil men used to operate in the dead of the night because their job was really gross. Heaven help you, if you laughed or snickered at them, as they carried their load in a huge pan on their head. They would usually send a few your way.

However, I find myself up nowadays, just like last night sleepless and anxious, starring at the roof tiles and the swoosh of my Binatone ceiling fan. There are many things that would keep someone awake on a hot Nigerian night,yes..hot,forget harmattan,e no reach my side. There are many; please share yours:

Baygon ,Swan, Kill it and Shelltox defying mosquitoes singing in my ear and biting lumps out of me – I can't go to sleep.

Noisy inconsiderate neighbours having a typical Port harcourt  party on the street, with Timaya's music blasting from huge speakers – I can't go to sleep.

'Man Shall Not Live By Bread' Ministries holding a 'By Fire, By Thunder' revival vigil next door – I can't go to sleep.

Armed robbers sent my street residents a notice to keep our valuables and cash ready as they are coming to make their rounds this week – I can't go to sleep.

Armed robbers make good on their promise, and are now operating and collecting the rent and other monies in our Landlord's ground floor apartment right now – I can't go to sleep.

The sound of the exchange of gunfire in the distance, between SARS agents and robbers is just like a scene from Rambo 2 – I nor fit sleep o.

Our transformer blew up and has not be functional for 2 months now, so I am in pitch darkness, and starting to make out gruesome figures in the dark – how I go fit sleep?

The loud clank and stutter of my neighbour's 'Pure Water' plant as he produces sachets for sale day and night in a room in his flat, in defiance of NAFDAC – I can't go to sleep.

Free Glo midnight calls from cheapskate dates who would never spend a penny – I can't go to sleep.

Writhing from side to side, thinking of elaborate schemes to come up with the cash to pay 2 years rent even though my salary is only paid  monthly – I can't go to sleep.

Staying awake to check my window every now and again because the mai-guard sleeps on duty instead of doing his job – I can't go to sleep.

The roar and fumes of my neighbour's 'I better pass my neighbour' generator from just outside my window despite the fact we agreed that he should install a silencer – I can't go to sleep.

The groans and moans coming from Mr. Okafor's window as he loads his wife again for the umpteenth time this night, even though the number of children they have are almost a complete football team – I can't go to sleep.

The putrid smell of fried fish mixed with the bad ooze of stagnant gutter coming from the opposite "Face Me, I Face You' building – I can't go to sleep.

Airtel sending uncountable 'balance reminder' or 'marketing information' SMS messages, even giving me Calls at all hours of the day – I can't go to sleep.

I did the 0-1-0 diet plan today because I was too broke to afford foodstuffs – I can't go to sleep.

They have laid off most of the workers in my department, except the Boss's girlfriend and people from his village; I may be next – I can't go to sleep.

Ogun PDP: Gbenga Daniel Calls For Decorum Amongst State Party Leaders

Former Governor of Ogun State and a chieftain of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Gbenga Daniel has expressed his discontent about the activities of some leaders of the Party admonishing them to desist from discussing political developments within the Party in the media as this negates one of the articles of the PDP Constitution.

According to Otunba Daniel, "internal disagreements which are supposed to be necessary ingredients of democracy are, on daily basis, being externalised.

"This smirks of indiscipline and must be discouraged by all lovers of democracy especially at this crucial period when we inch towards a major election that will shape the future of the nation.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has declared that there were no authorised primaries held in Ogun State as the leadership of the party had earlier on called on all stakeholders to come with a unity list of candidates encompassing all various interest groups across the State.

"Tremendous progress has been made in this respect and the onus lies on the leadership to point the way forward.

In order not to disrupt the arrangement, Otunba Gbenga Daniel elected not to run and pulled out of the senatorial race some weeks before the so-called primaries were held.

However, at an emergency meeting summoned by the National leadership of the party on Christmas Day, Otunba Gbenga Daniel was directed to run in order to enhance the success of the Party at all levels in the Senatorial district and by extension, the whole of the State.

Going by this arrangement, it is absurd for any group to call themselves delegates and make statements that will only heat up the polity and may inadvertently affect the fortunes of the Party in the State.

The position of Otunba Daniel remains that all hands must be on deck to ensure the success of all the PDP candidates at the polls by mapping out campaign strategies and ways of reaching out to the masses for their block vote in the forthcoming elections.

The former Governor also charged all the lucky candidates that emerged according to the unity list and other aspirants who failed to make the list to put it behind them and work assidously for the success of the Party at the 2015  election.

Senator David Mark to build basketball hall in Otukpo, Benue

The Senate President, David Mark has promised to build an ultra modern basketball hall in Otukpo, Benue State to encourage the youths take to sports.

The Senate President who made the promise while declaring open the 2014 edition of 'Mark D Ball' basketball competition in Otukpo at the weekend said the project will be carried out in the new year.

He said: "We have acquired land to build the
indoor basketball hall but it is out of town. So, our consideration has been either to look for a place central in the town here or go outside the town but as soon as that decision is taken, we will build the indoor basketball hall."

"To the young girls and young boys of Otukpo, I
want to encourage you to take up one sporting
activity. It will encourage you to be a better
citizen," the initiator of 'Mark D Ball' basketball
tournament added.

The Senate President acknowledged that once
Nigerians are encouraged, they could attain any height, pledging that: "I will continue to encourage our boys and girls, I will continue to make them realize their potentials because when they do so, Nigeria will be great."

He said his target is to produce world basketball champions from Otukpo community in no distance future.

While noting that he was impressed by the
turnout of youths and children to the basketball
arena, Senator David Mark said sports is the
easiest way to tackle crime in the society.

"I'm encouraged because the youths are here
playing basketball rather than engaging in
criminal activities."

Also speaking at the occasion, the People
Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in next year's election, Terhemen Tarzor who highlighted the impacts of the tournament on the lives of the youths, promised to support the competition when he becomes Governor.

"We will make sure that this tournament will now be enlarged to include football competition," he promised.

19 Teams Lock Horns At 2014 'Mark D Ball' Basketball Tournament

19 teams drawn from within Nigeria will be slugging it out at the 2014 edition of 'Mark D Ball' basketball tournament in Otukpo, Benue State.

Programme coordinator of the event, Obande
Ogbole said this on Saturday at the Otukpo
basketball arena ahead of start of hostilities.

The number of contesting teams this year is short by three of that of last edition, but Ogbole said some invited teams couldn't make it to Otukpo.

He explained that 11 teams will compete in the
male category while eight teams will battle for
glory in the female category.

"We got to this number by circumstances beyond our control. They [male teams] suppose to be 12."

Those competing in the male category include;
Apa Flames, Blazzers, Bethlehem, St. Mark, Blame it on experience, ESPN, Okland Blaze of Okene, T-Jobber talents from Uyo, Braves of Makurdi amongst others.

The female category has; Baby zeals from Lagos, One Win Academy from Kaduna, Sweeties from Makurdi, Pearls from Lagos, Apa queens of Otukpo, Purple Mart of Otukpo and Rockers of Jos among those who will be challenging for glory at the competition.

The coordinator explained that: "The defending
champions are not part of this year's edition
because it is an invitational tournament. It is at
the prerogative of the host to make that decision because we want to spread the invitation to accommodate others."

He said restriction has also been placed on the
number of premier league players allowed to
participate in the competition.

"We won't take more than three premier league
players per team. This is to allow for wider
participation. It is an exposure to some of these
kids whom without a forum like this will not be
scouted by anyone."

Speaking on why no international team is taking part in this year's edition, Ogbole explained that: "we suppose to have a female team from Burkina Faso but because of the political issues in Burkina Faso, they couldn't come."

600 Kids For 2014 'Mark D Ball' Basketball Clinic

No fewer than 600 kids are presently taking part in the 2014 edition of Mark D Ball basketball clinic, an official has said.

The coordinator of the programme, Obande
Ogbole told Daily Trust on Saturday at the Otukpo basketball arena that the kids were drawn from all over the country.

"There are above 600 kids here up from 300 last year," he said.

The clinic is divided into two categories, the
teenagers and the minors.
The Programme coordinator who said there won't be any coach from the USA to train the kids this year, expressed confidence in the ability of the local ones.

"This year, no international coach is coming
because of the political situation in the country
but the local coaches will do well."

He said since the inception of the programme,
tons of kids have been identified and moved up
the basketball ladder.

"At the just concluded Milo basketball
championship, all the kids of Jesus College of
Otukpo who won the competition in Lagos, came from 'Mark D Ball'," Ogbole noted.

He also added that a lot of the kids identified at
'Mark D Ball' have travelled out to pursue their
carrier in basketball.

Basically, the kids at this year's edition will be
taught the basics of basketball which includes
shooting, blocking, passing, movement on the
ball, guarding amongst others.

The clinic which started Saturday afternoon, 27th December 2014 will end on Wednesday 31st December, 2014.

Eight Most Important Things In Life That Most People Ignore

1. Heavy rains remind us of challenges in life.
Never ask for a lighter rain, just pray to God for a better umbrella. - That is the attitude!

2. Life is not about finding the right person, but creating the right relationship. It's not how we care in the beginning, but how much we care till the very end.

3. Some people always throw stones in your path. It depends on what you make with them; a Wall or a Bridge? - Remember you are the architect of your life.

4. Search for a good heart, but don't search for a beautiful face, because beautiful things are not always good, but good things are always beautiful.

5. It's not important to hold all the good cards in life, but it's important how well you play with the cards you hold.

6. Often when we lose all hope & think this is the end, remember God and pray, it's just a bend, not the end.'

7. Have faith and have a successful life.
One of the basic differences between God and humans is, God gives, gives and forgives. But the human gets, gets, gets and forgets.
Be thankful in life...

8. If u think it is your alarm clock that woke you up this morning, try putting it beside a dead body and you will realise that it is the Grace of God that woke you up.

If you are grateful to God, share this to all your friends.

Enyeama makes CAF final list of three

Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama has been shortlisted for the last three in the race for the 2014 Glo/CAF African Footballer of the Year award. The Confederation of African Football released the names for the final picks on their website on Thursday, The PUNCH reports.

The other players on the list are expectedly the reigning African Player of the Year, Yaya Toure of Manchester City and Cote d'Ivoire and Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who plays for Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

"Gabonese midfielder Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure have made the final top three for the 2014 African Player of the Year.

"The trio made the cut following votes from head coaches or technical director of the national associations," CAF wrote to the media on Christmas Day.

According to The PUNCH, mainly outfield players dominated the awards in the last two decades until Enyeama progressed to this final stage. No goalkeeper has won the African topmost award since CAF completely took charge of the event. Moroccan goalkeeper, Badou Zaki, was the last goalkeeper to win the award but the Moroccan won the award in 1986 while it was still organised by France Football.

The other Nigerian in the race, Ahmed Musa and Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan, were cut from the top five list released last month.

The award ceremony will hold in Lagos on January 8 at Eko Hotel.

CAF also released the names of top three finalists for the Africa-based Player of the Year award. They are the duo of Akram Djahnit and El Hedi Belamieri of Algeria and ES Setif FC and Firmin Mubel Ndombe of Congo and AS Vita.

Nigeria is dominating in the women category. For the Women Player of the Year category, Nigeria's Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie were shortlisted along with Annette Ngo Ndom of Cameroon. Oshoala also made the top three of Youth Player of the Year with her Nigerian team mate Uchechi Sunday and Fabrice Ondoa of Cameroon. Oshoala is highly favoured for both awards.

The trio of Clinton Nj'jie and Vincent Abubakar from Cameroon and Yacine Brahimi from Algeria made the top three of the Most Promising Talent Award while Algeria, Libya and Nigeria were listed for National Team of the Year award.

The award sponsors Globacom said in Lagos on Thursday, "As the Glo-CAF partnership hits the ninth-year we at Glo take pride in the significant strides our alliance with CAF has achieved in raising the quality and popularity of football in Africa."

108 Christmas babies born in Gauteng

More than 100 babies were born in Gauteng by Christmas afternoon, the provincial health department said on Thursday.

Spokesperson Prince Hamnca said a total of 108 babies were born in the province. Mamelodi Hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital each delivered 14 babies, while Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital and Kalafong Hospital delivered 11 each.

In KwaZulu-Natal 65 babies were born at government hospitals, Health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo said.

"We are delighted, of course, to welcome these new lives on Christmas Day, which is a very special day, as we all know."

He expressed concern that five of the mothers were teenagers.

"I did speak to them... If you are a 17 year-old, and you are delivering a child weighing 3.8kg, chances of delivering safely are slim.

"It actually places your own life and the baby's in danger, and it is something that all of us as society need to begin to talk about and discourage."

He said young people should be encouraged to abstain from sex, or practice safe sex at all times.

In Limpopo 53 babies were born.

The first baby, a girl, was delivered at Donald Frazer hospital, followed by a boy at Mankweng Hospital.

"These babies were all born healthy, their mothers are well and in high spirits," said spokesperson Macks Lesufi.

Statistics from the other six provinces were not
immediately available.

Al-Shabab Militants 'Bomb' African Union Base

Al-Shabab militants have launched an attack on the main African Union military base near Mogadishu airport in Somalia.

Explosions and gunfire could be heard in the vicinity, AU spokesman Col Ali Houmed told AFP.

Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the attack and says its fighters are inside the base.
The African Union has over 20,000 troops in the country to help the weak government battle al-Shabab.

Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab, al-Shabab's military spokesman, said that fighters had breached the compound's defences.

"Our fighters have entered AU's Halane base by force through the gate and now fighting is going on inside the base," he said.

According to the BBC, the AU base is on the edge of the compound of Mogadishu's international airport.

The base also hosts the British and Italian embassies and is used as the headquarters for United Nations operations in Somalia.

Aleem Siddique, a UN spokesman in Somalia, told Reuters news agency that all UN staff were safe.

Earlier in December, at least six people were killed when al-Shabab attacked a UN convoy near the airport.

Various armed groups have been battling for control of Somalia since the overthrow of President Siad Barre in 1991.

Greenpeace Monitors Durban Clean Up Operation

Greenpeace is monitoring the clean up operation of areas affected by a major diesel spillage in Durban, the environmental advocacy group said on Thursday.

"Greenpeace Africa is monitoring the situation with expectations of an efficient and speedy clean up of the affected areas," spokesperson Mbong Akiy said in a statement.

She was reacting to reports that a pipeline between Durban and Johannesburg burst in an upmarket housing complex on Durban's outskirts spilling 200 000 litres of diesel, The Daily News reported on Wednesday that the pipe burst in the early hours of Tuesday morning in the Greenvale Village Complex.

The pipeline was shut down and Transnet Pipelines spokesperson Saret Knoetze reportedly said a repair team and an environmental team had been dispatched.

The value of the fuel lost was estimated at R2.4m and the clean up bill would run into millions.

"The negative impact of such spills on both people and the environment is immeasurable, and our thoughts are with all of those who have been affected by this massive diesel oil spill," said Akiy.

She said the spill was a stark reminder of the dangers associated with dirty fossil fuels, and the limitations associated with Eskom's over-reliance on diesel to keep open-cycle gas turbines working during the current electricity crisis.

"South Africa's government needs to act now to ensure a clean and sustainable future for its citizens, which will only be made possible through an ambitious increase in investments in clean renewable energy.

I Will Seek The Help Of Military Generals To Crush Insurgency - Buhari

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday promised to involve serving and retired military generals to devise an effective strategy to crush insurgency in the country, if elected as President in 2015.

He said, "On my part, I intend to initiate consultations with serving generals and those who have served our country and distinguished themselves on the battlefield across the world to work out an alternative and effective strategy to crush this insurgency within the shortest possible time if elected president on February 14, 2015.

The former Head of State, who berated the President Goodluck Jonathan administration over rising poverty in the country, said, "In a nation where a few individuals could raise N21bn because they wanted to make their friend President, millions of citizens, who truly own the resources being accumulated by a few, are left to suffer in sorrow, tears and blood.

According to The PUNCH, Buhari, in his Christmas goodwill message signed by the Director of Communications, Buhari Campaign Organisation, Mr. Dele Alake, expressed displeasure at the security challenges in the country and the poor state of Nigerian roads.

"The right to life, guaranteed by our constitution, is under savage assault. The stories of murder in the print and electronic media make you shiver to the bones. The daredevilry of the Godless Boko Haram, which penetrated battle lines in the North-East to commit suicidal blasts in the north central capital cities of Bauchi and Gombe, demonstrates the crucial need to review the military strategy of our defence forces."

Nigeria Is Rich, But Her Citizens Are Extremely Poor - Buhari

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday said that though Nigeria is a rich nation, its people are extremely poor due to bad governance, The PUNCH reports.

He said his administration would focus on how best   to "make the condition of living of the common man the index for the assessment of our policies and not the amount of billionaires our administration would have made."

"I have said that I live the life of a pensioner. I share the burden and anxiety of majority of our poor, powerless people. I have offered myself on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, the party of change, because I desire to give back to a country that clothed, fed and trained me to be what I am today. Our people are poor. But our country is rich."

According to The PUNCH, the former Head of State, who berated the President Goodluck Jonathan administration over   rising poverty in the country, said, "In a nation where a few individuals could raise N21bn because they wanted to make their friend President, millions of citizens, who truly own the resources being accumulated by a few, are left to suffer in sorrow, tears and blood.

Online Safety Tips For Nigerians This Holiday Season

The holiday season is upon us and as always, we all are scrambling to get the best deals online and in stores. However, a few wrong clicks this season could land cyber criminals topping your list of people who will be receiving presents this year.

This year has witnessed lots of significant breaches ranging from a $40m cyber-heist by a Nigerian bank IT worker to the huge data leakage at Sony, just about a week ago.

Information Security expert, Rotimi Akinyele of PhynxLabs said online users can easily put themselves and their devices at risk, unless they take precautions and avoid the common mistakes highlighted below that could compromise their security.

Beware of the Bank Verification Number (BVN) Scam

The ongoing Bank Verification Number (BVN) introduced by the CBN as a means of uniquely identifying bank customers across the Nigerian Banking industry has provided a fertile ground for cyber criminals to defraud unsuspecting bank customers.

Scam emails purportedly sent from Banks/CBN are in circulation urging bank customers to visit a website to activate their BVN online as failure to do so would result in their account(s) and debit cards being deactivated.

Please note that BVN registration can only be done physically at a bank's branch. There is no technology now to replace the physical capture of your biometric data which the BVN seeks to achieve.

Do NOT access your accounts from Public WIFi

Just because a WiFi is free doesn't mean you should connect to it any time it's available. When you're banking or making other online payments, it's better to connect with EDGE or 3G, even if it's slower. It might only be 45 seconds of doing an online bank transaction, but if the wireless network has been compromised, that is more than enough time needed for a cyber-criminal to collect your data.

Use secure passwords

It's crucial to always use strong passwords as passwords are the first line of defense against cyber crooks. Try not to use names of your family, pets, first car, mother's maiden name, etc. as all these can be easily guessed, brute forced or even available on social media sites like facebook, twitter or instagram. Make sure to use a mixture of characters, numbers, and letters of at least 8 characters when choosing your password; as only this will add a high level of difficulty for any attempted password theft. Also, do not reuse your passwords as a compromise on one would translate to a compromise on all.

Stay safe on social networking sites

Social media sites are increasingly becoming targets for spams, scams and other online attacks. Asides mining data from tons of "status updates" for targeted attacks, cyber criminals have mastered the act of baiting unsuspecting users with well-crafted short but compelling posts offering free entry to a Christmas competition with a fantastic prize. The general rule is "there is no free lunch or freebies on the internet – if you're not buying a product then you are the product". Users who click the links then inadvertently act as accomplices to the cyber-criminals because the malicious scripts would automatically re-post the links, images or videos on their contacts' walls or timelines. If an offer looks too good to be true, it probably is. Do NOT click.

Protect yourself from fraudulent emails

If you receive an email urging you to download an unknown tax payment attachment or an email informing you of an urgent pending transaction and you need to login with your details to verify, DELETE that email. Such emails usually trick users into visiting the site, and once you do, viruses and spywares get downloaded on your device which automatically joins you to a network of enslaved computers that have been programmed to carry out malicious deeds. No reputable organization would send emails to collect user names, passwords, token keys or Debit/Credit card details.

The threats to your online accounts increase daily, however, the tips above can help you stay protected online while still providing the convenience online access offers you this holiday.

Stay safe online and happy holidays!

South Africa President Jacob Zuma Hint At Marrying Fifth Wife

South Africa's President Jacob Zuma has hinted he may be ready to take a fifth wife to accompany him through old age, the daily newspaper The Star said on Wednesday.

During a visit to a Durban township on Tuesday in KwaZulu-Natal, the 72-year-old said in Zulu "Angakayakhi indlu yokugugela... laba ngisabathathile nje" (I do have wives but I'm yet to marry my last one).

The crowd, most of them elderly, laughed and cheered, The Star said.

Zuma, who on Sunday said he was in "perfect condition" after a stay in hospital in June, had earlier given a speech about the need to respect and tend for older people.

Sihawu Nguyen, a professor at KwaZulu-Natal University, was quoted by the newspaper as saying it was fairly standard among Zulu people for a man who practises polygamy to take a last wife for his last years, sometimes
the younger sister of one of his wives.

"They call the last wife 'indlu yokugugela' [the home in which I will age in] because the responsibility of looking after the husband in their old age predominantly lies with the junior wife, who is often younger than the other wives and more agile in case there is an emergency," he said.

Zuma, who has around 20 children, has married six times but currently has four wives on the state's budget, despite criticism from some tax-payers.

Jonathan Begs NASS To Approve New Jet Purchase

President Goodluck Jonathan wants to ride yet another new aircraft, and he has asked the National Assembly to approve the purchase.

The request is part of the 2015 budget presented to the National Assembly in Abuja last week by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala. It will be the fourth such purchase since he took office in 2010.

According to SaharaReporters, to make the acquisition of the gleaming new toy fit for the electoral stomp an attractive proposition, the presidency will trade in one of the planes currently in the presidential fleet. But the purchase will still gulp N400 million as deposit to the manufacturer.

Towards combating the insurgency in the country, the appropriation bill contains a N1,308,400,600 proposal to be spent on NICEP II security elements phase II by the NSA; N2,093,861,553 for maritime border security solutions (Falcon Eye); N2,093,861,553 for North-East border security solutions and N850 million for the DSS to buy more firearms and ammunition for all the service formations.

Defense, which comprises the Ministry of Defense, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, has a vote of N358,466,078,698.

President Jonathan Proposes 'Hall Of Shame' For Criminals In Nigeria

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday pushed for a designated place to be created and named "Hall of Shame" where names of criminals and societal misfits will be documented, The NATION reports.

Stressing that he muted the idea while he was the Governor of Bayelsa State, the President said that it will serve as deterrence to those who may want to indulge in criminality in the country.

According to The NATION, the President gave the suggestion on Tuesday while receiving the Legends of Nollywood, led by its Chairman Paul Obaziele, who conferred on him the title of Grand Patron of the body at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said: "I heard you saying that you are planning a Hall of Fame, I think we should start thinking of having a hall of shame where the names of criminals would be written. This will serve as a deterrent to those who may want to indulge in criminal activities as they would not want to soil their family names."

Jonathan noted that the country used to be proud of soccer stars in the recent past but since the national team has begun to disappoint the nation, the Nollywood has overtaken them.

Buhari: The Myths Of Change, By Adekoya Boladale

In the wee hours of the night on January 4th, 1984, heavily armed men of the special ops department of the Nigerian Army known as strike force stormed the residence of Chief Olu Awotesu in Lagos to effect an arrest based on an order from above. Chief Olu Awotesu had travelled to his home town in Iperu, Ogun State and on realising that their target was not around, the soldiers descended on his family. Chief's wife was dragged from the bedroom down through the staircases to the lower floor, while interrogation of where Chief was, was ongoing the men in khaki spiced it up with varying degrees of resounding slaps and kick-booting.

They laughed while she screamed and begged for mercy, the more she cried the more they tortured her. The children weren't spared from the 'dinner party'. As if they had a direct order to have no mercy, the men took turn to dehumanize the helpless kids and even ordered the wife to clean up the blood of her kids every time an atomic blow cuts through their veins.

The torture lasted over three hours and having satisfied their lust for blood left fulfilled. Chief Awotesu returned to Lagos with news of a hunt for him, he drove straight to Dodan barracks with no knowledge of the havoc that has befell his family. Chief Awotesu wasn't only arrested but detained without trial for almost two years. It was while in detention he was told about the assault and near assassination of his family. He was released in 1985 having found no evidence of crime against him.

The man who ordered that inhuman assault alongside numerous others which included but not limited to the hunt for Chief Olabisi Onabanjo (a gory tale best recounted by his daughter) is no other than the now rebranded General Muhammadu Buhari. Before the world got to know the new Buhari in suit and tie giving kids 'high five', many, who were truly innocent and law abiding Nigerians have had their lives bashed right in front of their eyes as a result of his total disrespect for human rights.
My friend, Elnathan John, a renowned satirist and writer said recently, 'I refuse to choose between human rights and good governance. Any good governance that disrespect human rights is not good'. As the new Buhari preaches good governance, steps must be taken to ensure that fundamental human rights are not only respected but given total right of way. The Buhari must also be man enough to reach out to families of individuals who were victims of his brutish past and seek genuine resistitution.

For a while now, Nigerians have been fed with tales of General Buhari's anti-corruption campaign and distaste for graft activities, the merchants of this gospel are hoping such public relations job will brush up his goodwill and acceptability to all Nigerians but the fact remains that no amount of image marketing by his campaign organization will change the real him as perceived by the public, after all, clothing a pig in the best of tuxedo doesn't stop it from finding dirt pleasant.

Many analysts and commentators who seems to be spreading the gospel of a revolutionary war against corruption if Buhari gets elected basing such assumption on Buhari's previous mode of governance are either being economical with the truth, caught in the frenzy of the possibilities for a changed government or just unconsciously drifted into the realm of those who lack adequate knowledge of how a democratic system works. It is nothing other than a grand-illusion to believe that General Buhari if elected will solely curb corruption, which many has attributed as the major bane of our country.

Buhari if elected will be operating under set constitutional rules and guidelines which includes that he or any agency setup can not arbitrarily arrest, investigate, and pass judgement on alleged criminals. General Buhari may be able to identify either directly or through an agency corrupt individuals but the task of serving justice remains the prerogative of the judiciary which unfortunately isn't free of the same corruption. Those preaching the message of Buhari fighting corruption are merely selling a contaminated milk known to all as stale.

The reality of war against corruption in Nigeria shows that it supersedes the power of the presidency alone under a democratic system. In the light of this, a new Buhari will move far away from the 'I will fight corruption' slogan as what makes corruption works in Nigeria isn't just a weak president but  conglomerates of corruption laden institutions who constitutionally are independent and free from the shackle-hold of executive powers.

In the quest of curbing corruption will General Buhari be able to clean his house first? As a man who is now surrounded by a gang of think-tank who siphoned and warehoused the economy, social and human sector of Lagos state, given such individuals the key to Aso rock and Nigeria economy will create an upscale of monarchical control over the affairs of the country.

What will General Buhari do to Tinubu (who is allegedly a notorious signature for corruption) who personally supervised his emergence at the primaries and on whose back he rode to become a presidential candidate against all odds?

What will Buhari do to Rotimi Amaechi a man engulfed in series of financial misappropriation which includes but not limited to the monorail project scam, bogus international stadium project, local government allocations grabbing among numerous others but stood as the financial war chest of General Buhari marching former vice-president, Abubakar Atiku dollars for dollars, pounds for pounds during the primaries. A man who turned the acclaimed state owned private jet to Buhari's campaign flight?

What will Buhari do to Ibikunle Amosun, acknowledged by many as one of the most corrupt Governors in the South West with hyper-inflated contracts and total centralization of local government allocations but was responsible for the gift of a brand new bullet proof SUV to Buhari and also played a major role by delivering his delegates during the primary?

The ability of General Buhari to lead is something that demands clinical view, the War Against Indiscipline (WAI), which is now the poser child of Buhari's campaign and being celebrated today was more of Tunde Idiagbon than Buhari. It was Brigadier General Tunde Idiagbon who supervised and monitor the clamp down against social nuisance and indiscipline.

If Nigerians are so keen on bringing back the good old days, then we should be demanding for the come back of the late brigadier. For a new Buhari to fully work effectively as advertised, a new Tunde Idiagbon must be found. Unfortunately Prof. Osinbajo is a man whose autobiography shows taste for 'non-justice'.

The role the professor now addressed as Pastor played in covering down the Tinubu certificate scandal is still fresh in one's memory not to talk of his antecedents while serving in the inglorious regime of General Badamosi Babangida where his legal drafts were used in clamping down numerous media houses and students union organizations. Away from all these, Mr. Osinbajo in deeds and acts seems to have dedicated more time serving the King of Bourdillon than the gospel of the Lord. Will Osinbajo input in government be that of his opinion or the opinion of some certain cabals in Lagos?

The alternative option approach as being devised by the Buhari camp has clearly shown it is not prepared for the job. It is high time Buhari, APC and sympathizers left the convenient corridors of insults, condemnation and abuses and begin a campaign based on issues, policy formations and economic blueprints. Anybody can abuse, insult and pass blames. It is easier to stand in front of teeming crowds, wave to the admiration of supporters and pledge to stop insecurity, make power supply better, create jobs but it only takes few individuals with sound and true passion for a better Nigeria to say how such promises will be implemented.

2015: Buhari Will Lose To Jonathan Like Before – PDP

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday described the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari, as a perennial presidential
candidate, adding that he will lose to the PDP in 2015 under President Goodluck Jonathan, like in the three previous presidential elections, LEADERSHIP Newspaper reports.

Buhari had run for president under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in 2003 and 2007 and the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) in 2011.

According to LEADERSHIP Newspaper, while appreciating members of the Foreign Chapters of PDP for their contributions at the recent national convention of the party, the national secretary of PDP, Prof Adewale Oladipo said, "The APC had again presented its perennial candidate in person of General Buhari; he lost elections to PDP thrice in the past; we will beat him again".

Oladipo who addressed the party members during an interactive session at the party's national secretariat added, "The coming election will be different; it is going to be a straight fight between a PhD holder and a semi-illiterate jackboot; Nigerians will see the differences; PDP will beat APC hands down; APC has nothing to offer the nation; it is not an alternative to our party; we mean well for the country."

He said PDP had already set up a Presidential
Campaign Council to be headed by the party's national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu. The director general of the council is a former national chairman of the party, Sen Ahmadu Ali.

He said, "All our foreign chapters will be involved in the issue-based campaign to counter all the lies of the APC; APC will be busy propagating negative things about the country and be ignoring all the positive things the PDP-
led federal government has been doing".

Buhari (@ThisIsBuhari) Is Still A Saint By Suleiman

The news of General Muhammadu Buhari's emergence as presidential flag bearer of the leading opposition party in the nation, the All
Progressives Congress (APC) sent reverberation across the political landscape in the country.

General Buhari with his undying quest to clinch the top job after series of futile attempt is again angling for a return to power for a second time as leader of Nigeria and the first time as a civilian president, has become the trending issue in several political discourse.

Buhari to many represents the epitome of anti-
corruption, discipline, integrity and performance. He is considered the hope of the future incorruptible breed of Nigeria; the bastion for good governance and the symbol of a progressive Nigeria.

This faith and belief is predicated on his antecedents as military president in his first showing as president when he imprisoned hundreds of well-meaning Nigerians under the guise of corruption; he championed the War
Against Indiscipline (WAI) campaign which under his draconian rule also locked up many.

However what his hirelings and propagandists who have properly propped the old soldier to national appeal could not do was to remove the fact that 'Mr. Perfect' still has oil stains on his white agbada. His PR agents are oblivious of certain issues that white-wash propaganda cannot erase; they have negated the fact
that Nigerians have very critical minds.

Buhari, a man widely acclaimed by his supporters to be Nigerian champion of anti-corruption has been uncovered as a make-belief crusader, who has succeeded to hoodwink the Nigerian masses into living
in his not so beautiful utopia of Nigeria in the early 80s.

It has already been revealed that this facade of
uprightness an incorruptibility is a pawn in his larger game of chess to make up for his inability to amass wealth in his time as military head of state just like his co-travellers, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who led the pack of ex-president's longing to lay their hands on the
national treasury.

"Abdulmalik Suleiman is community development agent and advocate on national issues, contributed this piece from 15, Daura Road, Katsina, Katsina State."

To The Salvage Dear Friends By Prof. Nwaokobia

THINKING DEEP...Who were those who donated 22b to GEJ and what's in it for them? I'm certain that such humongous donation is for selfish gain and not for public good.

The more Billionaires GEJ has made the more poverty and joblessness in the land, solve the riddle and see how corruption chauffeurs/drives our national vehicle. Sad.

The PDP after 16years of rudderless governance at the Federal level has lost initiative, they have lost any and every modicum of morality hence they now see POWER as an ATM machine and leadership a Bazaar, we MUST stop them before GEJ and his cronies buy up all that is left of Nigeria.

They bought PHCN, whilst yet keeping the nation in darkness they gave GEJ's campaign a 'thank you' donation of 500m, do you yet wonder, under GEJ corruption rules.

VOTE OUT CORRUPTION...VOTE CHANGE...VOTE BUHARI/OSINBAJO.

What Is The Federal Government Waiting For Before Reducing The Price Of Fuel?

What is the federal government waiting for before announcing a reduction in the price of petrol in Nigeria? The commodity has been selling for N97 per litre for a while now, with the government claiming to have been paying subsidies on the cost of landing it in the country.

We all know that petrol subsidy is a scam and a propaganda been fuelled by the elite in the country to further siphon crude oil cash and submerge the common man into further misery and abject poverty; anyway, this would be the story for another day.

Early 2012, the Nigeria Labour Congress went into strike contesting the decision of the federal government to raise the price of petrol to N120 per litre; however, after much threats and tension, the President of Nigeria used his veto power to coherce Nigerians into accepting to pay N97 for the commodity.

With the falling price of crude oil around the globe, the cost of landing petrol in Nigeria has dropped massively from a high of N140 per litre to N82 as at the time of filing this report. The price of crude oil which has maintained a high of $110 per barrel has equally dropped to $60 as well.

The question now, on the lips and minds of every normal citizen of this country is: what must Nigeria continue to pay N97 to buy a litre of petrol when the landing cost has dropped to N82 per litre? Why is the federal government acting mute about the whole saga? Where is the president of the country? Where is the finance minister, who has always defended the poor policing making and strategy of the elite? I make bold to assert here that Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala was sent by the IMF and World Bank to systematically distabilize, distort, and destroy the Nigerian economy; so far, their plans seem to very much in place.

But, come to think of it, would the federal government not have acted quickly without hesitation to increase the price of petrol if the reverse had been the case? Was there not a time in this country when the federal government wanted Nigerians to purchase the commodity for an international market price of N140 per litre?

When the naira was under great pressure from importers, and speculators heaped great pressure on the Central Bank of Nigeria, did the CBN not bow to pressure and further devalued the naira against the dollar? The shocking thing here is: ever since the devaluation, things have become even worse; just last week, the naira fell to a low of almost N195 to the dollar.

With the constant silence of the elite into the current situation in Nigeria, it further strengthens the position of the critics which opine that they are only after their interest and more importantly, making life unbearable for the common man.

It remains to be seen whether the federal government would reduce the price of petrol as they did few years ago when it was reduced from N70 to N65; however, let this be a clarion call to every citizen of Nigeria out there that we must all stand up and take destiny into our hands: let us make the federal government accountable to us the citizens and do the needful by reducing the price of petrol.

It will be a welcomed development if the price of petrol is reduced to N40 per litre with the insistence of the federal government claiming to be paying subsidies on the commodity.

You Lack The Moral Integrity To Pass Judgement On President Jonathan, Okupe Blasts Buhari

The Presidency has reacted to recent statement made by a campaign group to Buhari suggesting to president Jonathan to channel the N21 billion he received from donors into the electricity sector in the country.

According to The PUNCH, the Presidency through the Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said the group lacked integrity to condemn the donation.

Okupe, who spoke with one of our correspondents on the telephone added, "We knew before and everyday that the so-called Buhari group is not a serious organisation. It is made up of power-mongers with no clear objective programmes for the country.

"They have perfected the act of deception and glorified falsehood. That's why they will say Buhari doesn't have N1m in his account and he wants to go into a national campaign.

"He wants to get the money for campaign from corrupt politicians and people of questionable character."

Okupe said   what happened at the Presidential Villa on Saturday was normal and done everywhere in the world.

He said, "What we did is done everywhere in the world. What we did was in the open and it was in a transparent manner.

"We know for a fact that Buhari's funds will come from dubious sources, including corrupt governors."

On why the President would collect donations from governors, some of whom are still owing civil servants in their states , Okupe said it was a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

He said, "Buhari was sponsored for the APC primary by Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who unashamedly brought the treasury of the state to Lagos.

"Yet, he has not paid teachers in the state for about eight months. APC should stop this pretence and put their house in order. Nigerians are tired of their propaganda."

On the call by the BSG that the N21bn donation be spent on the power sector, Okupe disagreed, saying that the nation did not lack money to prosecute its power programmes.

The presidential aide said, "The power road map, the first of its kind in this country, is being pursued diligently and efficiently and it is being funded legitimately through the budget for the purpose of accountability.

"The nation does not lack funds for this."

Tackle The Issues That Made Us Leave And We Shall Return, PDP Defectors Tell Jonathan

Some of the aggrieved chieftains of the party including a former national chairman of the party, Senator Barnabas Gemade, a former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, who recently left the party, said they could only return to the PDP if the problems that led to their defection were tackled objectively.

Gemade, who left the PDP to protest what he said was a primary skewed in favour of the incumbent Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, told one of our correspondents in a telephone interview that nobody had appealed to him.

Asked if he would yield to President Jonathan's appeal not to leave the party, he said, "Nobody has made any appeal to me. I won't be able to make comment on something that has not happened."
