Court Recovers Six-Months-Old Stolen Baby

Lagos Magistrate's Court sitting in Ajegunle, Apapa, has recovered a six-month-old baby allegedly stolen by one Charles Isiobor.

The court subsequently freed Isiobor after it was established that the child had been reunited with his mother.

The child, who was identified simply as Lifted, was reportedly stolen on January 4, while his mother, Rita Innocent, a resident of the Inla area of the state, went out to buy something.

I thought I was smuggling hemp, not guns ─ Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected robber, Amos Kuesi, who said he thought he was smuggling hemp and not guns before he was arrested.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect was arrested on Thursday, November 27, by policemen attached to the Pen Cinema Division while on patrol.

Our correspondent gathered that while another gang member, identified simply as Sotin, evaded arrest, 24-year-old Kuesi was apprehended and subsequently transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, for further interrogation.

Tambuwal's Suit Stopping His Removal From Office Stalled Again

A suit filed by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, before a Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an order stopping any plan to remove him from office was again stalled on Tuesday.

The matter had also failed to make any progress at the previous proceedings on December 3 due to fresh applications that surfaced in court on the day.

Again, the matter could not proceed on Tuesday after counsel for parties seeking to be joined as co-defendants in the suit sought an adjournment.

The Peoples Democratic Party has given conditions under which it said its presidential candidate will engage in a debate with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, stated this while briefing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday on the plan for the party's convention, which holds on Wednesday (today) and Thursday.

Celebration, As Over 150 Reps Members Lose Re-Election Bids

The House of Representatives on Tuesday described as disturbing, the high number of lawmakers, who failed to win the primaries of their various political parties.

"The high turnover is the bane of the development of our parliament," the House spokesman, Mr. Zakari Mohammed, told The PUNCH.

Findings by The PUNCH showed that over 150 members of the House did not make it in the primaries.

40-year-old Man Faces Charges Of Fraud, Stealing In Ile-Ife

A-40-year-old man, Mr Tunde Owoike, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ile-Ife Chief Magistrates' Court for fraud and stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the Court that the accused committed the offences on June 24 around 4.00 pm. at Moore area in Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said that the accused fraudulently obtained one Bajaj Boxer motorcycle marked Osun FEE 790 QB from one Matthew Ogundiran on pretence and allegedly sold it.

Man, 62, Docked Over Alleged N1.48M Fraud

A 62-year-old man, John Egbo, who allegedly obtained N1,480,000 on the pretext of assisting another to buy a Toyota Sienna bus, on Tuesday appeared before an Apapa Magistrates' Court in Lagos.

Egbo, a resident of Festac Town area of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and obtaining by false pretences.

The prosecutor, ASP Soji Ojaokomo, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 29, 2013 at 5th Avenue, `N' Close, Festac Town, Lagos.

Robbery: Gunmen Pose As Evangelists, Rob Tenants In Edo State
